Itinerary
- Visit to Lefkara, a charming village famous for its Lefkaritika lace and silverwork. We will walk through the cobbled streets, visit local artisans’ workshops, and learn about the intricate lace-making tradition, which has been passed down through generations.
- Highlight: Short demonstration of lacemaking and the Lefkara Handicraft Museum to learn more about the village’s cultural heritage
- Guided walk through the Old Town of Nicosia. We will visit landmarks of Nicosia. Learn about Nicosia’s rich history, spanning from ancient times through the Ottoman and British eras to its current divided state.
- Enjoy a traditional Cypriot lunch in a local tavern, sampling local delicacies such as meze, grilled halloumi, and fresh salads. (not included in price)
- We will cross over the Green Line at Ledra Street to the occupied side of Nicosia (passport or EU ID needed). Visit to Büyük Han, a beautifully restored 16th-century Ottoman caravanserai, now home to artisan workshops, cafes, and galleries.
- A short walk away, visit the magnificent Selimiye Mosque, originally built as the Cathedral of Saint Sophia during the Lusignan period in the 13th century. This impressive Gothic cathedral once served as the coronation church of the Kings of Cyprus.
